Contractors are a key stakeholder in the delivery of new schools. We help contractors respond positively and proactively to the myriad of changes in the education capital market. We have in depth knowledge of the schools capital market and extensive contacts in local and central government which gives us a unique insight.

Our Approach

The school system in England currently educates almost 7 million children aged 4 to 16 years old at an annual revenue cost of £40 billion. There are currently 21,500 state-funded schools, of which 17,000 are maintained schools overseen by local authorities, and 4500 are academies directly accountable to the Secretary of State.

Prior to the last election there was a total of approximately 230 academies. The growth of academies under the Coalition Government has been at a phenomenal rate – 1% of schools pre-election to now over 20% of schools being academies. The majority of academies are secondary schools.

We have been involved at a strategic level with some of the largest capital programmes over the past ten years including Building Schools for the Future, the Primary Capital Programme, Free Schools and University Technical Colleges.
